About Northern Nurture Birthwork

My Personal Story, Mission, & Philosophy

Hi, I’m Braedyn Bosilovatz, MSN RN (she/her).

I’m a doula, Masters prepared registered nurse, childbirth educator, Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, and a proud Midwest mom of two boys, both born at home. I have four years of experience as a high-risk labor and delivery, antepartum, and postpartum nurse. My life's work is to empower and support families throughout pregnancy, birth, and parenthood with love, humor, and evidence-based care, and to bridge gaps between nurses and the birthing communities they serve.

In 2022, when planning my first homebirth...

My husband and I took two out-of-hospital childbirth classes that changed everything I thought I knew about birth. I learned how positive mental preparation can change our physical experiences, how our language around birth matters, how to advocate, how to be fearless, focused, confident, and calm. I hired a doula who introduced me to Evidence Based Birth® which felt like a missing piece to my labor nurse training.

As a new mother I was unprepared for the anxiety, guilt, and self-doubt I felt as a result of the low-nurture cultural messaging that surrounded me.

I immersed myself in safe infant sleep information and the neuroscience of motherhood. I learned what was biologically normal behavior for me and my baby. I felt so empowered realizing there was room for intuition, instinct, and science in the process of making informed choices not only in pregnancy and birth, but also in postpartum and parenting.

The beautiful lesson being:

Many of the intensities and challenges you face in pregnancy, labor, and birth are also your earliest parenting lessons.

My personal experiences inform my client care.

I feel deeply fortunate to have my homebirth preparation, transformative postpartum experiences, and high-risk labor nurse training and perspective as I serve families as a doula and childbirth educator, both virtually and in Michigan’s rural Upper Peninsula.

I approach each person’s pregnancy and birth as a unique journey guided by their own unique values and personal experiences.

There is no one right answer or one right way to birth. Pregnancy and birth are expansive experiences for pregnant people and their partners. I will always celebrate and protect the diversity of a birth room.

I practice honest communication, nonjudgmental curiosity, and trauma-informed care. I won't pretend to be unbiased (because everyone is!), but I believe my role as a doula and educator is to provide evidence-based information, help you understand your options, empower you to listen to your intuition about what you want and need, and ultimately, trust that you will make the best decision for you and your family.

Thank you for considering Northern Nurture Birthwork as part of your birth team. I look forward to supporting you during this transformative time!
